Default Finally got my FAST system dialed in!

Thought you guys might like to check this out. It was the last step in completeing my PT 67 camaro. After the wrenching under the hood was done, the fun part began. I used FAST's new dual sync distributor(BTW nice piece) and ran the system sequential in the speed density mode. Tuning is not so easy, to really dial these things in, a chassis dyno is key. My son and I went out on the roads on several occasions and just couldnt get the fuel map right. After many discussions with Dave Page(tech support and He is great, good people) at FAST he basically told me its very difficult to tune these systems on the streets and its best if you can load a chassis dyno for different cruising rpms and WOT as well.

He put me in touch with Dale at Berrel auto in Horsham Penn. Dale dialed the system in on his dyno and road tested it, also did the cold start and everything and it runs awesome. He really knows what he's doing when it comes to EFI. Im finally enjoying the ride. I cant believe how different his map is from mine, I was'nt even in the ball park on the A/F ratio map, fuel map and timing map. Heres a pic of the way I set it up:

Thanks- doing a sound clip might prove more difficult than tuning the thing. It does sound pretty cool. The car did 485 ftlbs to the rear wheels, really flat from 3300 to 5300 it looks like he doesnt get into the gas pedal hard until 3300.

Thanks guys - This efi stuff certainly aint cheap, and the fuel delivery system as well. I really am enjoying the throttle response, this thing roasts the 315s like there bicycle tires. It made 460hp and 485ftlbs at the rear wheels. The real impressive part was how flat the torque curve was from 2.5k to 5.5k it just stuck to 480ftlbs and just starts to drop a bit over 5k. The hp was still climbing out but Dale didnt really push the engine much over 5800. Its a trip to drive, all the DSE hardware has this thing handling like a mini cooper, we had a blast building it. Thanks for all the help from you guys.

Thanks Rich, I am pretty stoked, Im almost ready to do another one. Most definatly an LS. I see that you are looking into the LS conversion, is the LS7 crate engine a plug and play deal as far as the ECM is concerned? Is there tuning required or is the engine delivered with the electronics. Who's got the easiest approach as far as getting a wire harness and electronics to drive the efi in a first gen using the ls7?

Here's a link if you guys want to check the car out, most pics were before the efi. http://www.lateral-g.net/members/barbara/

Yea the LS7 is a plug and play, just like the ls1,2 & 6.
If I were to do this again, I would go with all stock electronics, have the harness weeded out and flashed by speartech.

Going with the stock stuff saves you $5K over buying everything aftermarket.
