Default AHHH, more stripped block threads!!

I have never had this many problems with stripping the deck threads in my whole life of building engines. My block has been decked .010 below zero, could this be the reason? I soon will have ALL of the deck holes heli coiled! Has anyone else ever had this problem? I'm using bolts also. I would have bought studs if I knew this was gonna happen.

400 block? This is prolly best time to insert all helicoils, install studs and seal them well,,,, with Indian Head Shellac compound.

How is the accuracy of your torque wrench b/c if it is off by say 25 pounds, you may just be twisting the threads out of the block past stock torque and not know it!!

Consider that you have prolly taken off some .035 off deck of that block as normal stock deck is about .025. You prolly dont have any champher in the bolt hole area, I would do this before you set coil in or set coil deep. Dont want it right at the edge of deck.

I have only seen one other block do this back in the early 90's it was a Mexican casting.

Use studs for one.
They don't turn in the the deck's threads while torquing up like bolts do.
Friction in the threads is practically zero when using studs.
