I ordered and just received the above part and am about to start the process of installing it. Looks pretty good and except for some minor modification that will have to be made on the windshield wiper motor opening it looks pretty straight forward.

Can anyone give me an idea of what I am up against? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

The install is pretty straight forward. Drill 1/4 inch holes along the bottom edge so you can sort of duplicate the spot welds. Make sure when you cut out the old one that you leave the tabs that come from the A-Pillar. The new piece does not have them. Leave enough of the old panel to allow for overlap. Flange the lower dash and weld to that. Take some measurements before you cut old one out to make sure you can locate the holes for the windshield stops and the lower reveal molding clips. Good Luck.

Question

foreverlookin,
Are you talking about the entire cowl section above the firewall? It sounds like you are since you mentioned the wiper motor.

Boy did I miss that one. I thought he was talking about the dash panel replacement. I had to cut a small portion out of the new dash to match the upper opening for access to the wiper transmission. I lead myself astray.

I installed 1 in my 69ss car that I got out of a donar 69 firebird, they didn't have the piece from the factory seam up and under the dash panel till 1 year after I did mine. I cut it out at the factory seam where the seam sealer is located and butt welded it all the way across,I also cut it where the verticle metal sticks up on the right and left sides, the main thing is to measure and make sure it is in the exact same place as you have to make sure that the stubs from the wiper transmission that the wiper arms attatch to are in the correct spot so the cowl vent panel fits properly,if the doors and fenders are still on,I would leave them on so you can check fit of the cowl panel!!! After I was done and ground fairly smooth, then I put some icing on this after primer, sanded and then I put fast and firm seam sealer on and it looks factory origial. It comes in caulk gun tubes, not and easy job,but can be done with some patience,I also had to repair inner piece under this one and install a new steel dash panel,I also rebuilt both bottoms of firewall where fenders bolt at the bottom, measure twice cut once.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes 69x1155 it is the entire piece that MR454SS is talking about. Seems pretty straight forward...its just a matter of patience.

Thanks again!
