does anyone know where and if there is a windshield wiper motor from a newer car like in the 80s or 90s or even 2000s that will fit in a 67 camaro. i want to upgrade the original wiper motor and system for optimal use and be able to have more then just two settings. i want to have a wiper motor like new cars and instead of the old factory motor. is there an aftermark wiper motor thats being sold so i can replace the one i have now or does anyone now of a newer cars wiper motor thst will fit in a 67 camaro. thanks so much.

Just last night I got caught driving in the rain and turned on the wipers for the first time in years. Boy what a shock. They move real slow and high speed was not much better.
You guys on this site are awsome in letting us all know where to find newer and better things for our first gen Camaros. Thanks to all |

The only problem with the Detroit Speed wiper motor is you lose your washer function. You will have to rig up an alternative washer pump. To me that's not much of an upgrade. Why won't something off a 2nd or 3rd gen work?

Yes. There is a mid 80's wiper motor that was used on Fiero's and some other pontiacs and first gen S-10's that will bolt right up. The design with the built in intermittant controller will interfere with the factory brake booster. There is an add on intermittant module that I used. For the '67 you will need to make up something for the switch, maybe add a rheostat near the existing switch?
For my '69 I added the steering column controller. If I remember right the only other mod I needed was to cut the link lever and re weld it with the slot that bolts to the motor rotated 90 degrees. http://www.camaros.net/images2/overlay-round.gif TTFN Mat

Exact same thing being discussed in the body shop. The added bonus of doing this is that it's very small and can be hidden in the cowl area, cleaning up the firewall.

Matt, will that one fit a 67? The 67's firewall hole is different than a 68 or 69.

I forgot to add that I had to cut a piece of sheet metal to fill the oval hole and cut a smaller round hole for the shaft. It is held in place simply by the clamping action between the motor and body opening. I might be wrong but I think the '67 uses the same bolt pattern, just a cut a round sheet for the opening that the piece of sheet metal will fill.
