Default 1991 s-10 4.3L Oil pressure switch?

For about 10 years now my 91 s-10 4.3L tbi has been having the oil pressure bounce around from 80-25 and vice versa. I installed a new oil pressure switch to see if that was the problem but now it stays at 40 all the time and almost on 0 at idle. Does anybody know why its doing this and if so could it be fatal?

How long has it been dropping down to 0 @ idle??.....Are you hearing any serious engine knocking or ticking @ 0??.....If not then it's probably a bad wire connection at the oil pressure switch....By the way, I have a 1991 and 1993 Chevy S10 Blazer with the 4.3, the 91 is tbi and 93 is cpi.....Both read high oil pressure when cold and drop down when hot!

If you replaced with aftermarket sender, visit dealer and get an AC/Delco unit.

I did the same with my 88 truck, oil pressure was bouncing all over and thought I got a good brand, Standard Products. Gauge exercised as if it was on a mega-dose of caffine, then died. Got a refund and headed to dlr for replacement, no problem since.

I put the original in and does the exercising needle. Then again its been doing this forever so ill leave it. The engine makes no noises. Kind of funny because i used a friends 91 blazer last night and his gauge doesnt go under 60 at all haha.

these guages dont seem to be very reliable...maybe try a mech guage for 20 dollars...it`d be nice to know the oil pressure isnt actually 0 at idle...
