Question BB valve covers

Is there a location where one can ID the various big block valve covers?

I discoverd 2 pair that were buried and they are slightly different on the driver rear and the stand for the plug wire seperator on one has a throttle spring hole in the bracket

the pass side are SLIGHTLY diff as the wiring loom clips are on one and not the other

I THINK they are lined up as pairs, but I basically have four DIFFERENT factory valve covers

with all the BB cars we'vee owned, I am not sure what these came off

any ideas? TIA

no 1 looks like 69 Chevelle because the spark plug wire stand is more to rear then 69 Camaro

no 2 looks like 69 Chevelle and 69 Camaro

no 3 looks like 1970 because extra small wire clips on top edge needed for TCS

there were a lot of different chrome BB valve covers.

I can use the 69 Chevelle driver side and maybe trade you for a 69 Camaro one

then that seems to fall within them being a "pair" as I feel 3 & 4 are a "pair" as well

2 & 3 are pass side. #4 is for a drvr side Camaro due to the PB booster, #1 is for a '68 & later Chevelle.
2 & 4 are a pair, 1 & 3 are the other pair.

My answers. The prize is ?

I don't think #4 is camaro. At least not first gen. It doesn't have the bump needed for the dripper on the back end. I agree it sure looks like a 69 camaro valve cover. Did the factory make any covers without drippers?

no. 4 is not 69 Camaro

here is a pic of what I think is 69 Camaro close to 69 Chevelle no. 1 and 2 except dr side plug wire stand is outside of top bolt hole where 69 camaro plug wire stand is inside of top bolt hole

crane web site has some info but I don't think their repops are all correct because there are so many VCs with small differences

^ ^ that was fairly helpful

so there are 14 different according to them

they also state the drippers are hipo or special hiperf only ...

both sets have drippers

I think all 69 BB valve covers had drippers.

69 driver side had the little bump out like in the left pic. As said, it also had the spark plug loom tower further away from the back. Also had the plastic coated temp sending wire shown on left pic.

Number 1 is not correct for 69 Camaro, but is correct for 69 Chevelle. It may also be correct for Impala, not sure.

I'm almost positive that in 69, the chrome covers were used only on L72 and L78/L89. They all had drippers. L34/L35 were painted and I think they had drippers, too.

I don't know if your ad is correct for LS6, but it is definitely not 69 Camaro....but your ad never says it is.

I just looked at a few of my b/b covers, and paid careful attention to the little bump out on the driver side one. I was always curious about the little bump-out that is on 69 only. I don't know why I never put it together, but it's for the rear dripper. Later ones appear to have the same dripper, but don't have the bump-out. The slant on the later one is a little more steep than the one with the bump-out, so the dripper fit without a bump-out.

Isn't #4, with the "notched" lower edge specific to the 1970 L78 Novas?
