Default Header / Muffler question

I have a 1969 RS/SS with a 396 and the original exhaust system, I believe they call it a chambered exhaust. The existing sound is very mild and by no means with the throaty muscle car sound.
I was thinking about changing out the existing and replacing with headers and flowmaster deltaflow 50's. Does this hurt value much if the original exhaust system is replaced? Should this be enough of a concern or is the trade off better to go with the sound and performance?

Thanks...

I'd replace the exhaust system with a new free-er flowing model. But keep the original exhaust in case for resale value.
