Default Garage storage need help!!!

I've tried to keep it all neat and organized... pull everything out and hose her down a few times a year... But this year, she's gotten away from me, big time.

For those who were watching the ill fated other post, here's my new wall, from the "family's side"

That leaves ME with a space 22 feet wide and 25 feet deep, not counting the "cubby."

I need to figure out some better places to put my "stuff"!
I'm almost embarrassed to post these pics.

So... starting just inside the garage door to the left, this handy lil cubby can hold all sorts of stuff, and it does, damn what a mess...

A lil bit further back on that wall, these racks hold all the "lawn tools" I guess they have to stay.

There's not a whole lot of room in front of the camaro, maybe enough for one of the brown cabinets, or maybe I'll just leave it open. No pic.

The other side of the "back", I've all ready pulled down those wire shelves. I'm gonna put my workbench there, it will fit with 2 feet left over for the drill press I want to buy, and moving the bench will free up enough width to work with both cars in the garage.
Here's the bench as it is now. 12' by 30". It's become a disaster, shame on me.

Here's a closeup of those cabinets above the bench. They've become a catchall for all sorts of crap. Not sure about even keeping them, they are hard for me to reach without a step stool, and they shade the bench something awful

Finally, the right hand corner up by the garage door. Tool box (15 Lbs of sh*t stuffed in a 10 lb bag!) is there, along with those pegboards where all sorts of junk hangs.

So what would you do to organize that mess?
What kind of shelves and cabinets and things?
Open or enclosed?

I'll need places to organize nuts and bolts and hardware, both car stuff and house stuff. The baby food jars ain't doing it, they keep falling down and breaking. Most of my small car hardware is in that tackle box on the bench, works good, but could use 2 or 3 more.

A lot of that stuff will get thrown out. Hoping to move all the paint cans to the basement or something. Still waiting for mud to dry so I can paint that wall, and then move the bench and start putting things back together. Right now I have a big pile of "keepers", "maybe keepers, and "find someplace elde to putters" right where my vette should live.

http://www.handiwall.com/handiwall.html

He said this product was quite spendy but found a local manufacturer of a similar slatwall who was nearly half the price.....

pretty cool stuff....very modular!

I had a Tuff Shed installed in the back yard. All the lawn and garden tools as well as house paint extra tile etc found a home there...

They tore down an old hotel here a few years ago. I went and bought a bunch of the cabinets out of the kitchen units. The garage still isn't clean, but a lot of the mess is out of sight. lol

Jim.
I did my whole garage with those cheap white home depot cabinets. They come in pieces in a box. There not that expensive also. I wanted to hide everything. All you see now is cabinets.

I made a bench like yours also across the entire wall. When I did the cabinets I went out and bought some standard hinges and 3/4 plywood I painted white. I made my own base cabinets to put my welder, jacks, extension cords, chop saw, vise, grinder, drills ect.....ect..... The only shelves you can see is my 30 model car collection. Hope it helps some.

This site has some COOL stuff!
action=category&id=272 -- poop... something happened to the link, and then I lost the site!
Went to Menards, they have some ok stuff. I may get the rubbermaid wall cabinets to put on the family's side to put all thier crap in.

Mark, those white cabinets over my bench are the home depot ones. They've held up pretty well. Hard to keep organized tho, and hard to put small stuff in, just turns into a big pile after awhile.

I need bins and drawers.

And plastic. Is it wrong to want plastic? I've had "pressed board" if it's anywhere near the floor it self destructs. I've had metal, opened the one where I keep my pool chemicals today, the entire area is RUSTY! Must be that opened then resealed gallon of muriatic acid...

Shouldn't the Pike be mounted above the fireplace? J/K Try to utilize your ceiling best you can. You can hide a "lotta stuff" up there. Just a suggestion.

I also built a 'space' above where the garage door is near the ceiling. I gained about 2' of area where we keep big stuff thats wide and cumbersome, like swinging chair canopy, rolled up rugs when wife changes decor in the entry and other misc. crap
I also hang a ton of stuff from my ceiling and trust it wont drop.
The other stuff the guys have shown are cool too.

The Pike (actually she's a walleye) was once in my home office, but since we moved here, the wife has not allowed her into the house. Maybe I should take her to work and put her up there?

Been searching, and now I'm seriiously bummed. I found the ultimate car guy storage system, but I'll never have it. http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...2924_200072924

We have some of the Rubbermaid storage units (tall locker/shelf unit and a 3 drawer unit). They work well actually, wife uses to hold all her homeschool stuff, so they are packed with books, etc. The shelves haven't bowed from the weight. I think they'd be good in a garage.

For screws, bolts, electrical parts, etc. I used to have those drawer units like RSS has on his workbench, but everytime I move, the movers pack them upside down or something and I end up resorting.

Now I have some of these:
http://www.fastenal.com/web/products...l.ex?sku=63006
They have different size compartments and have a rack so each one slides out like a drawer. Pack like items in same drawer, and then you can carry the whole drawer to the job...ie all the electrical connectors, fuses, etc. or interior screws. Only drawback is that you can't see whats in them without opening them...so I put the label maker to work.

Edit: I got the small part/bolt organizer unit at HF, but I can't find it on their website...I just used Fastenal as an example. I think my drawers are a little smaller

All the spray cans & chemicals you have not used in the past years should go into the trash can. I would not put spray bomb in the house or basement.

Pool chemicals in a plastic bin. Nice wall.
