Guys, I have a old Ford Explorer that has some trans slipping problems. I just want it to go a little longer, then it can die peacfully, no viewing, just in the bailer. Does this stuff work? Say I dumped the fluid, added a couple of quarts of this and topped it off would it change anything, or is it a waste of money, thanks for any response.

Thro it in Mike. I like it. It does work for slipping and erratic shifting. Filter woudlnt hurt if its cheap enough.
I like it irregardless. IMHO...All Lucas stuff is good stuff.

Berry,
That link is about oil treatment. Mike, I had a transmission in an old Celebrity that sounded like marbles in a tin can. Put in a couple pints of trans fix and it smoothed out after a day or two of driving around, and lasted years till we sold it. Not sure how well it would work on slipping, but it's cheap enough to try. Mark

Ya, I agree, Mike, I like it. Ive used it in my wifes Camry and a couple of my work trucks (all 3 of which are/were regularly abused) and it worked like a charm

I've used Lucas trans fix in several different transmissions, I love it in high mileage transmissions it works for me. hope that it helps you as much as it has me.

I know nothing about the Lucas product so take this for what it's worth. Have you ever dropped a carberator in cleaner and found the o-ring you forgot to remove before hand. The O-ring will be larger, softer and unfortunately brittle. Some of those miracle-in-a-can tranny additives do the same thing. While it will give temporary relief, the blessing is short lived as the seals eventually break. I just urge anyone contemplating a transmission fluid additive to read the fine print and don't expect an additive to fix a failing transmission. On the other hand, it sounds like you're headed for a rebuild anyway so what do you have to loose in this case.

I can vouch for Lucas products in general. I've been using their injector cleaner for years. And fwiw, the guys at two different auto parts stores say that Lucas is the only brand they'll use as a tank additive that works.
