Default 69 drum to disc, should I upgrade?

Thinking about changin the front drums to disc, should I do it/ If so should I also change the master cylinder and add a boster or just use the current manual set up. What kind of disc set up is recommended. Thanks

On a disc to drum conversion, I'd change it all out at once, including the master. Don't take chances with the brake system. A power setup is a much easier car to drive IMO. We have the most economical and complete 11 inch front disc brake conversion kit out there.

Check our website in the signature for details. All new parts in the box...nothing remanufactured.

Bob great system, but I can't afford the shipping. I was ready to buy the system until I saw how much shipping was. Thanks for your help.

WW-

Should you change? If you like to stop safely from highway speeds, yes. Where in PA are you? Dpending on where you are, I might be able to point you someplace with cheaper shipping or local pick up.

BTW, Bob's price for the kit is really, really good. I'm not going to run all the way through checkout to see what shipping was, but the kit price is very good.

I purchased my kit from CPP at a Good Guys show. I recently saw that Summit had a kit. Anything I have got from them with the Summit name on it I have liked and, I did not check for this kit, the shipping is always fast and cheap. I would check this out:

Good luck!!

BTW, yes, go disks in the front. Best upgrade I have done to my car.

Another thing. Sounds like you're going for the original size. My original disks have only been 'turned' once, about .004 about 30 years ago. They work really good too. Do it. But there're soooooo many choices out there. My son just received a set of 4 Corvette disc's for his 69 Camaro that he's rebuilding. I think he said they were 13"???? The whole set with brackets was $650. Ah, America! But he needed bigger wheels. That's the American way too!

Converting to disc brakes is the first thing I would mod to any classic muscle car with drums up front. The difference is very noticeable and is a fairly inexpensive way to improve the safety of the vehicle. Imagine the cost of a small fender bender because you couldn't stop in time to avoid an accident.

Just recently put front wheel conversion kits (boosted master cylinder) from Matts Classic Bowties in both my 69 convertible and my 66 Impala coupe. Best money I've ever spent on them. Stop far better than they used to.
