Hey guys, I am finally getting to my LS1 swap I have been wanting to do since I bought my 69 (May of 07). I was originally wanting to use the entire chassis harness out of the donor car, but man, thats a friggin nightmare! Now all I want to do is use only what it takes to make the engine run.
So, I found this here on TC......... http://www.blown.net/ls1swap/rodders...1t56wiring.doc This helps a TON! Now that I have this article, I have eliminated about 80 to 85% of the chassis harness. BTW....most of that harness in a 99 Z-28 Camaro is audio and lighting. I also wanted to share a few pics of the harness of before and after. I don't have the after pics right now, but I will soon enough. These are in my filthy shop. I will be where your at in another six months, looking at those pictures makes me glad that I farmed that portion of the build out.

Very nice. That'll be an awesome combo that'll still get 25MPG on the hiway. I love those accesory fuse box setups. We usually end up cobbling up stuff with aftermarket parts (and our own) on these first gens. Having accessory relays, breakers, and fuses available to power add-ons will really be handy...but you'll have to reverse engineer the wiring and adapt it to your needs. I'm sure you have some good schematics to refer to.

I think that's a great idea! Where will you mount that beast?
![]() I am still reworking mine a bit but here's a pic of it in it's "raw" form. I made a bracket that it clips to, and then mounts under the dash inline with the e-brake cable. When mounted its up and out of the way. All that is exposed are the tops of the relays and fuse's. I also made it so it can be unplugged from the harness and not hardwired in. ![]() ChrisP |

Chris....that is fantastic! Looks really good. LOL....looks like you were one fuse slot to short.
I like the idea of it not being hardwired in. I might have to work that into my plans. Where am I going to mount it? Well, since I am going thru the forewall with all 75 wires (yes I said seventy-five wires) on the right side of the firewall, I will most likely be mounting it directly under the wiper housing.....don't know if thats the correct terminology, but there is a good flat spot under the dash just behind the ash tray that I think will be a good spot for it. This way it is close to the computer and will be a little easier to get the main power cable to it. It's the brass lug you see on "relay Box #2". That cable will be coming right off the starter so it shouldent be all that bad. Hey, where are you at in Tx? Joe

I only found them as 4 slots each. I'll probably add another box to accommodate the fuel pump fuse(the loner), headlight motors, a/c, etc, since they clip together and I have plenty of room where they are mounted. Chris, how is your project coming? Mine is coming along great. You might have seen my other thread of the LS1 first startup. If not, look HERE.
Ok, I got everything mounted up. I have a few pictures of that below. If anyone was wondering, I have a peice of rubber between the compter and the body, so there should not be an issue.....I hope. Anyway, this is the best I can do with the funds (very limited) that I have. I empathize on the wiring. I installed Accel DFI a few years back and I was overwhelmed (at first) by the amount of wires, lol.
