Hi Guys - Where can I find a replacement kickdown cable for my 69 RS Camaro? I've looked through most of the usual sources, and I haven't been able to locate a cable that matches the original kickdown cable bracket. My car is a 350 ci, Quadrajet with the original TH350 tranny.
Thanks as always!! |

The replacements work, but look and mount a little different than originals. I bought some close replacements before I found an original on ebay. I can let a replacements go cheap

Luke,
I bought mine from my local Chevy dealer as part no. 342486 Cable Asm 4.050 for $42.07 (special order). I just saw one on eBay for just over half that amount, but with shipping, it likely came out to about the same. Charlie 69 RS and picking up a 69 RS SS tomorrow! |

The GM ones from the dealer are still the service replacments, wont look and mount like the factory 69 one.

Not if he has the original sliding slot w/screw mount. He would have to replace it with a newer square hole mount.

Thanks for the info everyone. I actually purchased the service replacement bracket and cable from Ricks about a month ago, and have the bracket and quadrajet mounted on my new 355. Judging from where the cable attaches to the carb and the bracket, the cable reaches its full extension well before the secondaries open on the carb. The original cable/bracket design provides quite a bit more wiggle room, and figured I could adjust it to allow the secondaries to open completely. The carb is a Sean Murphy Induction q-jet and is not original, so maybe the kickdown connection point on the original carb was oriented differently.
