After a few months of a complete re-wire of the factory 99 Camaro harness (cutting out everything thats not engine related), I finally got to start her up the other day.
I used the original 99 Camaro relay boxes and fuse panels and again, like the harness, cut out anything that wasent engine related. I pulled every pin and connector out of them and re-wired them to my liking. Once that was all done, I mounted verything in the car with custom brackets I built to mount everything under the dash. I still have a long way to go to get it road worthy, but I guess if I take my time, that time will come soon enough. Man I can't wait to drive it!!! Anyway, I have a few pictures and a few videos. The first video is with a few of my buddy's. Keep in mind that I have never started this engine in this 69 yet. So the way you see it was the way it happened.......no misses, no coughs, no backfires.....it just did what it was supposed to do. The video in this one was pretty muffled because it was really late and I had open headders.....therefore, the shop door was closed making video quality suck. The one holding the camera is Travis.......he is not gay....he is a little drunk, thats why he sounded that way. ![]() http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzLP3LcNYUo The second video is the very next day. I just had to hear it again and get some footage of it. Once I pick the camera up off the ground, you can really hear the sound of the idle. In case you were wondering, it has a Comp Cam 224 in it (224/224 .581/.581 & 112lsa) with open longtube Pacesetter headders. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3R9Y1mVosbA Ok, here is the LS1 just before it came out of the car. It was untuned and had old gas in it.......... http://s198.photobucket.com/albums/a...t=100_2581.flv Ok, here are some pictures of everything just before the holidays. Now it looks ALOT different and I will post those pictures tomorrow. Keep in mind that these pictures were taken when the bare essentials were there to make the motor run......but it looks better now that I have somewhat organized things a little. I'll post those tomorrow. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Congrats man!
I think that was the smoothest LS1-swap 1st startup I think I've ever heard!! mine took 4 seconds of cranking before it fired, and then took another 5 seconds to smooth out after that (I blamed mine on air in the fuel lines & rails--I'm running the returnless rails with the Vette filter/FPR at the tank).

About the fuel line, I am running the same setup you are. I know this is kinda silly, but it was cheap and it works.......I used the original fuel pump/regulator/sending unit out of the 99 donor car.......except the sending unit, and put it all in a 12 gallon fuel cell. I really like the one line fuel system rather than the two line system that the TPI's, LT1's, TBI's and some early LS1 motors have. Joe

Hey thanks guys. Here are a few pics of the harness thru the firewall and the heater block off plate. Please excuse the mess.

Congrats on the swap! Just being curious, what is the line next to the harness going into the block off plate?

Chris, there is a story behind that. I'll start off and say that it is a battery cable that looks like a fuel line. Reason being, I ordered that grommet you see there with a 3/8" hole in it. After I got it, I realized that I won't be using a 3/8" cable to go into the cab just to feed the rest of the car, I ended up using some number 6 or 8 (can't remember) battery cable and by chance it fit right inside the -6 braided fuel line. The fuel line looked better and it fit the grommet, so thats how that came to be. Thanks for asking.....I thought I'd get a questions on that. Joe

Hey thanks alot guys.
Fred, glad it russled your feathers man. I know it did the same for a few guys around here. Joe, yeah, I have been working on this thing EVERY-SINGLE-CHANCE I got since I got it started. Just hearing it run makes the motivation go thru the roof! I simply can't wait till I get to drive it. All I know is I have about 1K I need to spend on it to make it driveable. I need to buy a rack and pinion setup and then get it alighned.....thats it. I have everything else. I'll update as soon as things happen. Thanks again guys, Joe
