Hey guys I'm wondering what a stock 10 or 12 bolt measures from the point of where th wheels mount. Flange to flange.

Do the disc brakes make it wider? The reason I ask is I'm trying to get some new wheels and want to be sure of the backspacing I need. I've test fitted an 18x10 AR Hopster that had 5" b/s and still needed a .25" shim. It fit but a little too tight in my opinion I think a 9.5" would be better. My current rear wheels are 15x8 AR torq thrust II and only have 3.5" of backspacing. My rear measures 58.5" I think. I wrote it down somewhere or I'll just re measure. I see most guys run a 9.5 with 5.5" of backspacing.

The disc brake only makes the overall rear 3/16 to 1/4 wider. At 58 1/2 you are 2" off, which makes sense as you SHOULD need a 6" backspace wit a 10" wheel, if a ten will fit at all

Isn't that backwards? If his rear really measures 58.5 from wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface, it is almost 2 inches narrower than stock, and would need less backspace. If his rear is narrowed, that may explain why the TT2's on it now fit well; 3.5 inch BS on an 8 inch wheel is not usually enough, and will make the tire stick out past the fender lip on a 69.

If it's a 58.5" wide stock rear end it's probably from an early Nova.

I am saying that with a stock width rear he would need a 6" BS, so that explains why the 5" BS fit. Guess i just did not say it clearly.

I think I just figured out how to multi Quote, even though I didn't do it in the last post. OK guys that all makes perfect sense and I think stock backspacing minus 1" should work for me, whatever width I decide to run out back.Thanx
