How did you set the TV cable adjustment? Is this a newly built trans or a known good used unit?

Do you have enough fluid in it?

You'll want to raise the rear end on jack stands during the fill. Cycle through the gears to purge all the air out. You'll have to be pretty agressive on the brake to stop the wheels before changing directions though. You'll probably have to top off the transmission at least once or twice until it's hot and full. Remember each mark is 1 pint (1/2 quart).

Throttle Valve Cable adjustment is very important on a 700R4. You can do damage to the tranny if its not right.

If the TV adjustment is ok and fluid is ok, then the tranny is suspect IMHO. Has the pan been off? Is the filter installed...correctly?

If the TV is not adjusted correctly, you can damage it pretty good upon start-up I think.
