Default Barn find 68 Yenko Camaro

i have just found a 68 camaro and i think its a yenko i will describe the car and hope someone can help me also i need a rough idea on value before i go any further sorry in advance if this is in the wrong forum i am new to this .

the car has been dry stored since 1974 (original owner died last year)
its red with black interior and black vinyl roof
its 4 speed 140 speedo yenko to left of gas filler 427 on the right
the whole front clip is missing also the engine has gone (i have found the engine but the guy wants big$ for it ) dose it make much difference in value if it has original engine and how much? can i get an original hood for it?
the vin is 124378n459580 also it has a trunk spoiler
any help would be very much appreciated
the car is very solid but would need total restoration (it has original paint and vinyl roof) interior is almost mint

I dont see it on the Yenko VIN listings but i also have learned to say never say never as well.

I would get with Brian Henderson over on the Yenko Site www.yenko.net and start getting all your questions answered. Without a doubt he is the most informed person when it comes to Yenko Cars as his shop restored them. With the price of Yenkos now days it might be worth it to have Brian come out and inspect the car.

What is the wording on the bottom of the cowl tag?

also did you get the info from the engine that was said to be in the car when it was sold as a Yenko?? Double check its build date/Engine stamps and look for a partial VIN (not the Camaros) on the front engine pad. If there is one I would say its not from the Camaro

...I can say this much, ...if it's 'company' in the barn was a Ford Lightwieght, ...it would sure seem to me that whoever the owner was, ...he was into 'race' cars. Definitely worth looking very closely at the car...
...Keep us posted

Thumbs up Re: barn find 68 yenko camaro

Sounds interesting if it has an original 140 speedo.
Other items to check are....
diameter of front sway bar
look for Yenko ID tag with serial number in door jam
holes for Yenko installed SW Tach and gauges
post a picture of the trim tag
get a NICB report if you can

a replacement Yenko hood is expensive but can be found

good luck !

non-Original 427 engine for a 67-68 Yenko does not have large effect on value since Yenko installed a replacement short block so you just need a correct cast no. and dated block

hard to say the car's value because you don't see many Yenko project cars for sale but to give you a rough idea - a well done "no issues" 68 Yenko Camaro may go for about
$250K-$300K a top level resto can be $100K to $150K depending on how much is needed so a project can be worth maybe $100K-?K?

I have a list of about 40 of the 65 68 Yenko Vins and even though 459580 is not on the list it is about 30 Vin's lower than the next one... and there are a group of 459XXX vins... Post a pic of the cowl tag...
Maybe this is your hood...

When you say you found the original motor and the guy wants major dollars, when you are talking 200 Grand plus as someone stated final price tag how much can it be?
If you can prove that it is the orginal motor, and that it was a real Yenko then the sky is the limit I would think.
That lightweight Galaxy is no slouch either.
I personally have thought that the next ten years are going to be an amazing time in the muscle car era strictly because of the passing of the muscle car era owners.
I have personally seen several myself in the last couple of years. One was a 396, 1966Chevelle that has been in a heated concrete floored barn since the mid 70s.

I agree Stewie... there are going to be alot of owners passing or moving to retirement homes etc... and some nice cars are going to come out of the wood work!

that would be an interesting Yenko story if the red hood from the blue car turns out to be the original one from the red car ?

(if the red car turns out to be a real Yenko)

Wouldn't it though... the story on the blue car is crazy as well... it was being hauled to a scrap yard and the roll back driver stopped to eat lunch... someone in the resturant saw the car and made a deal to buy it... then it sat in Nocal for along time before being bought a few years ago... it is currently under restoration and is owned by Dana Hurt...
