69 SS396 Paint advice please
She’s a documented #s matching big block 4 gear with a/c born in Daytona Yellow now with 60+k miles. Although very clean and mostly original, the car hasn’t seen any kind of restoration other than taken down to metal in ’92 and painted Red. It was a quality paint job as there is no evidence of Yellow and it has lasted all these years. Some day in the future I will take the time and spend the money to go through thoroughly and change her back to Yellow, but for now I just want to freshen her up and not spend a ton of money. There is no rust and other then some parking lot scars (morons) the car is in great shape. I have a painter I want to use, but need some advise on general guidelines, expectations etc . For example; can the car basically stay together (except for molding, trims, grill, bumpers etc) and just get prepped / masked? Or must the hood, doors, trunk, glass etc come off? Is this “common practice”? What is "Common Practice"? I understand this is a pretty open question but any sort of guidance on job would be a big help for my meeting and agreement with painter . PS: I will make sure the rockers, the back panel and the Hockey Sticks get done correctly (to spec) and obviously make sure the engine bay is masked off carefully protecting the cowl tag. Thank you! Brian
