what stripes came on the '68 rs's?

Sureguy, To the best of my knowledge, no stripping on an RS. (not counting body pinstripping, which was an option I think). Had the nose stripe which turned and went rearward to the end of the doors on the SS.

To the best of my knowledge the 68rs's had a front "bumblebee" nose stripe.

my 68 rs came with the bumble bee stripe... but it was an ss option most of the time...options were mixed and macthed by the dealer and the buyer at the time.... so ss with rs options and vice versa were very comon.... hope that helps

How can you say your '68 is 100% stock? You have a recovery bottle for the radiator (which isn't stock) and the intake has a filler tube. Weren't the 1968's were filled through the valve covers....

Another question I though of while looking at your photos....for '68 RS's, is the washer bottle supposed to be on the drivers or passengers inner fender well?

I believe the washer bottle is on the passenger side for an RS. They were moved to make room for the hide-away headlight mechanism.

My fathers 1968 Camaro RS has the washer bottle on the drivers side and the oil filler in the manifold.

ok well in the rally sport package the headlights caused a problem with the water bottle on the driver side because of the vacuum cannister so they moved it to the passenger side.....and yes the oil would be on the valve cover if it were a 350 but its a stock 327....the only additon to the engine is the franz oil filter system that was added in 1974 and can be removed at any time to make it 100% .... why i would do that is beynd me since it was an idea ahead of its time and is still providing extra protection to this engine.....

Wanted to correct some mis-info posted here. I own a 68 RS convertible with documented options. The RS had a Bumble Bee stripe option on it if you ordered it that way. For the washer bottle it is on the Drivers side. It doesnt interfere at all with the headlight doors.

In 1968 the washer bottle for RS cars required an additional bracket to re-locate the bottle rearward on the LH inner fender. It was not located on the RH side due space limitations imposed by the possible addition of the A/C compressor and dryer. In the 1969 engine accessories swapped sides and the bottle was re-located to the RH side.

Hi guys,
Don't know about the washer bottle stuff, my ride is away untill the snow is gone so I really can't check.
As far at the oil filler, I have plenty of research on this one.
68 camaro 327, 2 bbl Carb the oil filler is in the intake, 68 is the first year for the Quadra jet carb, 68 is the only year that the 4bbl Quadra jet intake has the oil filler tube in the intake manifold.
The PCV valve system is in the rocker covers, I believe that the 67 327 have the PCV system that hooks up to the stink pipe below the distributor.
I stripped a 68 SS 350 with the original motor and the intake is 4bbl Quadra jet type, with the oil filler in the intake manifold.
In 69 the oil filler was moved to the rocker covers.
This info applies to cast iron intake manifolds, when it comes to aluminum intakes any thing goes, in many cases the the hole for the filler plug is drilled, and a frost plug installed.GM is well known to switch in mid production, so i am sure some where there is a late 67 with a 68 style engine or a late 68 with a 69 engine or vise versa.
As far as the rad over flow bottle, nothing worse then pulling into the cruise night or show and having the car spew antifreeze all over the ground and every one tracking through it, let alone the enviroment concerns, I am interested in what you used and where you installed the over flow bottle,
Any modifications to the radiator, what style rad cap are you using, ect. lets us know thanx

I restored a 67 SS 350 from an orginal owner and it had the orginal iron intake with the oil filler in it also had the orginal rochester 4 barrel. 68 was not the first year.
