Default Hood latch/grille problems

So the handle from my hood latch sticks into my grill...and I cant put my grill back on...

what gives?

my assembly manual says nothing about it and the picture looks correct.

It also does not line up with the hole in the grill so I dont see how I can open it when the grill goes back on.

Is it a rs grill & coupe latch, or rs latch and coupe grille? I heard that a rs grill requires a rs latch, however I am just going on what I heard.

Correct. an RS latch does not stick out of the grill, it has an extension that moves the handle down under the bumper to the front valance area.
