Will rear disc brakes from a mid 70's seville fit a mid 70's camaro? Has anyone tried this? Any tips? Thanks!!

I'm not sure about that swap? There are several companies offering rear disc. kits. I'm going to eventually convert my 8.8 rear in my '68 SS427 Camaro to rear discs. I can use an aftermarket kit or just get them off of a newer Ford Explorer.

Speedway Motors in Lincoln, NE. sells a weld on kit that we have been using on IMCA modifieds for years without problems. It comes with bolt on rotors, hats, brackets and pad spacers and you use your own calipers, either metric or standard 69-77 mid size. The cost for the kit is about $180. Their number is 402-474-4411. The part numbers are as follows,
Metric caliper kit...910-31925
Standard caliper.....910-31920

wbacall, do a search on this subject. There are many posts about using the Seville setup or the 79-81 Trans Am setup, which I have recently done. Thats the cheapest, easiest, bolt on way to go. Best of all replacement parts are as easy as a trip to the local parts store!

I have been looking for a 79-81 rear disk setup off a Trans Am for my 69. I E mailed a bunch of used parts suppliers around the country and no one has them. How does this kit work? Does the welding warp the diff housing? Also, how much do calipers cost, and what applications? I priced rebult Trans Ams at $110 each. A little much. Will the kit allow for e brake use? Thanks

I paid 70 for each caliper because they needed replacing. Master cylinder new was 18. Ebrake from the disk rear is a bolt on. What welding?? Everything is a direct bolt on. Very easy swap. Do a search either here or on the Chevelle page. This swap was discussed in detail. Its easier than your thinking

The welding I was talking about is from the kit from Speedway Motors that 68 RS discussed. Where did you get your Trans Am calipers? I can't find ANYTHING used. I can't even find a whole disk brake car to buy. Any other disk brake cars that will work? I am tring to do this for about $300-$350 and I am hitting dead ends. Whats the chevelle address?

The Chevelle address is www.chevelles.com The calipers I bought were at the local parts store. Everybody I called had them, it was only a matter of picking the cheapest store. As far as the rear itself goes I see them regularly in the local want ads and places like that in the 150 to 250 range complete. A guy I work with just bought one complete for 150 with a set of turbo trans am wheels thrown in. They are out there, well out here anyway. Location may have something to do with it. In the rust belt those seventies and eighties cars are pretty rusted which makes them cheap and parted out easily. I paid 70 for each caliper, 18 for the master cylinder, 40 for the Wilwood adj proportioning valve and about 15 for brake fluid and a couple lines that needed to be changed. The only other things missing is the parking brake hardware and the backing plates. You can try a dealer for these. Not that you would want to but if you didn't need a parking brake right away all you would need is the backing plates and your done. I may have the part numbers somewhere. They are listed on a trans am page somewhere also. If you order anything it is for a 79-81 Trans Am with four wheel disk. When I ordered my calipers I ordered them for a 80 turbo Trans Am (its easier that way because I think all the turbo ta's had four wheel disk) You can also use the newer setup in the 82-92 Z and TA's just as easily (although order the master cylinder for the 79-81 anyway) but I just happen to like the older setup better
