Default Dont want to sell it ...

I've Been after this 67 RS for awhile now .. its got the original 327 and tranny but its a basketcase, but its all complete and together not all torn apart. The man said He would hate to sell it and then see it all fixed up on the road! Well WTH do you think im gonna do with it, just park it at my house and look at it? NO !! Actually the 67 belongs to a customer who is a client of my friend who has swimming pool bussiness. He owes my friend about 1K of work that he has done for him. I told my friend, "work out a deal and subtract what he owes you and I will pay you that money". My friend is / was all for it but the mans response was what I said above . I guess hes in that special club THE "gonna fix it up one day club" that is !

Those "gonna fix it up someday" guys have good intentions, but they rarely work out. Keep at him, Robert, he may cave in eventually.

Is the whole car a basket case, or just the engine and tranny? Only you can decide, but depending on how much free time, skill and $$ you have, "basket case" may not be the way to go. These days I prefer a driver to a basketcase. JMHO.

Tell him what he wants to hear then do what you want once its yours. Problem solved, after that response I hope you fix it up REAL NICE and drive it in front of his house EVERY DAMN DAY.

i feel the same as you: i visit an original 69 big block zl1 train wreck at least 3 times a year. sometimes he doesnt know if he wants to sell it and other times he going to fix it. for the last 4 years its got inches upon inches of dust piles on it. keeps growing every year.

LOL at you guys !!

well lets define Basketcase? to me I thought a basketcase was one that needed some work, Nothing major etc. But remember we do not have salt roads down here so rust is a minimum.

A basket case is a car you have to take away in boxes for the most part. What you are describing sounds like a project car. Meaning when you look at it you can see the potential and it looks like a car as it sits (just need work). With a basket case the car typically looks like a pile of parts that only a trained eye can identify.

If you really want the car, the best approach is not to pester him but, check in with him from time to time. All it takes is catching him on the right day when he could use a little extra $$$ or is in the right mood. Make sure you always have at least a deposit handy when you stop by to see him.

I'm kinda in the same boat with a guy. I've been talking to him for a few years trying to buy his car. He is the original owner and the car was wrecked in 1974 and has been sitting ever since, outside for a while and then in a garage where it sits today. It is a very low optioned car but the one option it has is the SS L78 and the drive train is all still there. He says he's going to fix it up one day but I have him thinking my way sometimes.
