Yes, very nice looking car. Not trying to be critical of it, but at this price point, one would think that both VIN tag rivets would be correct. That kind of "variation" would make me nervous if I were in the position to buy it (I'm not!)

A correct rivet would have made the car too expensive.

I believe it is common to have the mixed rivets like that. It was discussed elsewhere.

Hello guys. That Clill guy has his info correct. An original drive train '67 Z28 is a very unique Camaro, in today's day and age.
The Rivet situation has been documented, wherein both types of the Rivets have been used. It was not always the case and there are several reasons offered up as possible explanations. I have also found the two Rivets used on some Chevelles? This Z28 was judged at the Chevy Vette Fest Nationals, where it achieved a Gold Spinner. They have some very knowledgeable first Generation Camaro judges and it passed their scrutiny. Jerry MacNeish, also personally inspected and certified this Z28. It's the real deal! If anyone is in the area and would like to stop by, come and check it out first hand. Regards, Stefano Bimbi, CEO Nickey Chicago, Inc.

Ad says "Many became full on race cars. They dominated the Trans-Am series as well as their class' in the drag racing ranks."
Mustang won Trans Am in 67 and 70 - Camaro won 68 and 69 neither car dominated It was a classic hard fought Camaro/Mustang battle for 4 years! |

Nice car, indeed. I don't care if it has two different rivets.

Quote:
Ford backed Shelby and Bud Moore Trans-Am teams in 1969 with Shelby team drivers Peter Revson and Horst Kwech and Bud Moore had Parnelli Jones and George Follmer. All great drivers and top teams. (Parnelli Jones was a madman on the track, even Mark D said so.) Ford was winning in the first half of 1969 but had a lot of bad luck and a bunch of accidents in second half of 69. Penske and Donohue did a great job and won a lot of races but I would not call it domination. It was a Ford Chevy fight to death battle. getting back to the 67 Z/28 on ebay....it is a nice looking car! |

If all we can debate is whether the Camaro dominated...then we must be unable to find anything else wrong with the car itself. Nice car.

Didn't that same Z/28 sell on ebay about four years ago for less than half of today's buy it now price? (At least the one I'm thinking of was the same butternut yellow/black vinyl top color combination.)

I don't remember this Z28 on ebay? Doesn't really matter does it? What I can tell you is that we spent, numerous man hours in labor and many thousands of dollars in parts to make it as correct and look like it does today. Not to mention that Jerry doesn't work for free either.
Most every part is dated properly for this Z28. It is well sorted and runs and Drives great. Only 200 or so '67 Z28s are accounted for.

Stefano is a great guy and I would not have any fears of buying anything from him.
For the rivets, it is very well documented that numerous cars had 2 different rivets used on the vin tag and is not a worry at all. If it has two round rivets it is time to worry. As long as at least one is the star type it is ok. There was another very similar Z that has been floating around for a long time which has 68 Z emblems on the fenders. I think that is the one you are thinking of but then again I could be wrong. |
