order the stock steel fuel line items to replace the rubber line (see Topic:fuel line ? below). i'm wondering if i should take the glass (auto zone - $7?) see thru in filter i bought for the rubber line and place it between the steel feed line from the tank and the fuel pump? is this overkill or will this help (i have noticed a small amount of rust in the filter)? will it make my fuel pump work to hard going thru the filter on the suction side? it will have the big ac gf-432 filter between the pump and the carb and i'll replace the one in the carb too.

Hey Mike. I would not use that filter with the metal lines. My buddy had one of those ( if it's the one that has screw on ends). Anyway the end vibrated loose and caught his car on fire. I would think that with metal lines, the vibrations would be more intense, and I'd hate to see your car catch fire

i was planning on installing it in the 6"+ rubber line that goes from the steel tank feed lines to the suction inlet of the fuel pump. it would have rubber hose on both sides.

The two filters should be enough to do the deed. I agree with joker, those glass filters are scarry.

I once had a clear glass fuel filter and the O ring wore and while driving on the highway I noticed wet vapour on the hood. I pulled over and it was leaking at one of the ends. I bypassed it and bought a plastic AC delco. Today I either use the plastic 3/8" or the steel inline filter from GM, no problems.
Trash the glass.

COPO, Whats the steel inline filter from GM? Do you have a part number and or picture. I am looking for a decent filter. Trashed the glass one a while ago for piece of mind but the local stores only have really cheap filters that I don't like. I would like a basic GM unit rather than what I have now.

I have a fram metal inline filter before my Holley electric fuel pump which I located to the rear subframe. All new steel lines and a filter before my Edelbrock carb. The on before my carb is a a transparent plastic one from fram. I always place a filter between the tank and the pump and the pump and the carb.
