Default Sheetmetal assembly order?

I'm beginning to install the outside rocker, the 80% rear quarter, door and fender (drivers side).

I have the rocker and quarter cleco'd together now.

What's the assembly order? What do I weld first?

Rocker, quarter?

What's the best way to make things line up correctly?

Did you leave the door and deck lid on to make sure the gaps are good.I had to put a moe clamp from one 1/4 to the other and pull with a come a long to get the gaps closed and pulled around the tail panel...As Brian said rocker first you can weld the bottum of the 1/4 thru the inside and then seam seal.

The deck lid is on and the door I just put on. I'm having a little difficulty with the door gaps, especially the door at the top front. The gap is too tight.

I can't seem to find a way to open it up any more?

Top hinge forward bottom hinge back if this doesn't work pins may be shot. Also check bottom of door with rocker if you still cant get it the 1/4 may be pushed forward or body may be out of square. Was the car hit or appear to have been find 4 spots under the car not the subframe and pull a diadonal.

Hinges have new pins and bushings.

The old sub-frame was hit, but not bad. I got the car with all original sheet metal, didn't seem to be hit.

What's odd is that on the drivers side there are practiaclly no gaps and on the passenger side the gaps look too big???

David, maybe the body was hit?

Check the sub-frame alignment. Sounds like it is off to the left, pulling the right fender forward and pushing the left back.

Subframe has nothing to do with door gaps at the quarter. Is the fenders on it, if so loosen the coresupport bolts and fender bolts and pull fenders forward to get the door gaps correct. If you cant get door forward far enough you may need to pull the door pilar on a frame machine or egg the holes on the hinges. You need to get the door gaps correct before you proceed or you will be fighting every step.

I thought the same thing about the subframe. I hung the fenders and didn't attach them to the core support, and the gaps were still off.

I need to spend more time trying to get the gaps right.
