What did you guys use for shims with the disc spindles?
Can I use washers from home depot or does someone make them especially for this swap? I did a search and it looks like BRP provide a spacer but I don't know if that'll only work with their own kit. Thanks

Are you talking about the upper boss for mounting the caliper bracket? If so a solid shim would be better as a stack of washers will compress slightly as you torque the bracket in place.

That's the one I'm talking about.
Know of a good place to source one? I'll be using .25" brackets.

TTT. BRP doesn't sell just the spacer.

You might try speedtech. http://www.speedtech-performance.com/ I notice they don't list brake parts any longer, but that's where I got mine.

I bought a mini set from BRP awhile back and I wasn't impressed at all. They put a .030" shim under the inner bearing to gain the necessary offset for the caliper-rotor relationship. Really crude, looked like it was cut with tin snips, hubs and other parts painted with silver spray paint-tacky. Sent it all back. I then found a really nice set up from a fellow in California:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3AIT&viewitem=
I bought a black set up and am really pleased plus a great price also. He uses a thin spacer under the rotor to set the offset correctly. |

How thick is the spacer?
I might just have a machine shop make me a couple.

I went to the machine shop and asked them to make me some .030 thick spacers but they need to know the inside and outside diameter as well.
Any one know the specs? I'll be swapping my 67 with disc brakes with the LS1 brakes. Bought a set of brackets that are .25 inch thick. Thanks

Take the machine shop the bolt you'll be using to mount the bracket. It's prob 7/16 or 1/2 - I forget. Big enough for the bolt to pass thru without a lot of slop. That'll be your ID. Use a caliper and measure the diameter of the boss on the spindle. That'll be your OD. A little bigger than the boss would be OK for the OD.
Are you sure .030 is right? That seems way too thin. .480 ish seems to ring a bell with me. If you can, take the spindle to the machine shop. You're tring to space the upper boss so that it's even with the lower boss, correct. I might be misunderstanding what you're trying to accomplish.

Thanks, I'll have to take it apart and do some measuring.
