Summit racing sells them, probably the most reasonable price. I believe there about $422.00
You prob wouldn't see much benefit unless you have a HIGH compression or a load, or a combination of the two. It's used to prevent detonation in most cases, especially back in world war 2 on the super charged air craft engines.

You should also check with Alcohol Injection Systems. They have trunk mount systems, this is the system I have on my car. There is also a lot of good information on their site.

I can definately use methanol injection
engine is at 13:1 compression static tired of using 110 or 116 leaded race gas al the time. |

I have been looking into this but I had a question. I talked to Snow Performance and they said that on an NA engine, injection doesn't typically start until between 2500-3500 RPM. On a high-compression NA engine, wouldn't detonation have started long before that if it was an issue? It seems like total timing would have already been in for 500-1000 rpm by then, and the whole point of the kit would be to be able to run pump gas with high compression and respectable timing numbers. Can anyone enlighten me on this issue?

Harry, are you talking about a methanol inj system to augment your current set up or are you wanting to switch from a gasoline burning engine to alky? Reading your post you said you are tired of buying the $$$ race gas.
Have you looked into an E-85 set up? Check out one of our member's sites-horsepowerinnovations.com...his name is Eric, builds E-85 carbs. I know you are looking for injection set ups but the carb deal may be more interesting. Methanol is going to be harder on the engine than ethanol. For a race car that gets frequent rebuilds it isn't a big deal really, but for a street car or street/strip car it may be. Between the wear factor and the reported hard starting with alky injection some of the guys that race around here use a gasoline primer system to start the car and idle around the pits and such. When they get in the burnout box they flip the switch over to alky and let it rip. Just can't go over about 2000 rpm on the gasoline primer. I would check out the site Royce listed...also check out Killerrons.com. Lots of racers use Ron's alky injection system, they are the guys that came out with the 'Ron's Flying Toilets' years ago. Also, with the alky deal you will have to change the oil more frequently and take precautions so you don't 'Milk the oil'...have to get the engine up to temp before shutting it down and etc....and some oils definately don't jive with alky. Lots of alky racers use Brad Penn oil for this reason.

If you are looking at preventing detonation only, won't the old water injection system work? It was used long ago.

I was referring to water/methanol injection/ADI as sold by compaines like Snow performance and AIS. I assume that the OP was as well (if not, my apologies for jacking the thread). My big confusion is that they advertise being able to use their setups for controlling detonation on a high-compression NA engine without using race gas/octane supplements. However, Snow told me that the injection can't come in much earlier than 2500-3500 (and he leaned towards the 3000-3500 range) due to the tendency for the mix to "put the fire out" so to speak in the cylinders and cause a misfire. At that RPM it seems like detonation would have become an issue before the unit kicks in, defeating the purpose. I am sure I am missing something, and was hoping someone knew what.

1Slow,
Have you used this on an NA setup? Would need to trigger it off lack of intake vacuum rather than boost. My LS1 is running 11:1 CR and the fuel around here is E10 crap. Would be nice to add water/meth so I can run more timing especially in the summer. Cool thing about the GM EFI is it senses knock, so it will be easy to measure the effectiveness as well as retune the AF ratio. Ron
