Default My 70 Camaro Prostreet Project

I sold a 68 BB Vette in January, and bought this retired race car out of the Tampa Bay area. It was a 8 sec flat car in it's day, but the owner switched to a 67 Camaro for a few years, then a TT SB car, and was currently building new car, so this one had to go.

Back in my garage

It won't be as high-end as some of the cars on this section of the forum and won't be a show car, but it has it's roots in street racing and I have a bunch of the Orlando Street National Videos it competed in, so it will be a fun car.

That's gonna be a very nice 2nd Gen. Pro Street when you're finished.

Looks like it is coming together. It will be a nice car when finished.

rtj...looks like you are doing your part to stimulate the economy..
Lookin good, will be a beast for sure with the boosted zz502.Keep us posted.I have a procharged zz502 on e85 project coming up soon.No intercooler..will be relying on the latent heat dispersion of e85 to lower charge temp.Good luck with your build.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Here is a bit of an update on the progress (spending).

Expensive driveshaft yoke for the roller bearing in the Dedenbear tailhousing.

Rebuilt brakes, hubs, and new spindles.

I ordered new a-arm cross shafts, but after inspection decided the ones on the car were heavier and in good shape, so they will stay.

I believe the stop-bolt is so the car picked up the front wheels early. Will probably have to remove it.
Bought an Dart hi-rise, but when it came, the directions said it needed machining for factory bb heads. Went with an Edelbrock and did some gasket matching
Before

After

Chevy High Performance magazine (Dec) had an article on a ZZ502 car with a vortec supercharger without an intercooler. The magazine claimed that on 8 lbs of boost it would make 800HP, so maybe the ZZ502 for this car with a intercooled procharger at 10 or 12 lbs will make a bit more.

rtj..nice intake manifold gasket match. Can you show a picture of the same gasket applied to the Eddy roval port atop the zz502 and what you did there to gasket match.I only ask..because I did not gasket match my now retired performer rpm intake with the oem rectangular 840,s.I left the manifold alone..thinking the mismatch will act like a dam and aid in intake reversion issues that I had at the time.

Okay, I'll get a picture of the gasket on the heads this weekend if I'm not working. I put it on there a few weeks ago and it is a perfect match, head-to-gasket.

I was working in the garage tonight, so I pulled the plastic of the motor and took a couple of pics.

Is this what you wanted to see?

Man, I want to get this engine in the car and the trans bolted up.

Next weekend should be able to start working on getting the motor and trans installed.

I'm intentionally keeping this car as close to it's race configuration as possible. So, I picked up a plate last weekenend for the front. I'll add year stickers like the ones shown on the photo.
