When I dismantled my 67 I pulled the 327 and muncie out as on piece. Since the restoration, I have installed the engine with the bellhousing and clutch in the car, mainly to save space in the garage while the trans was being rebuilt. The question I have is: do you bolt the trans up first then install the crossmember or crossmember first then trans? I remember that I could not get the crossmember out after I removed the engine and trans until I removed the front clip...I’m sure the bushings were compacted. Now the front clip is on with new body mounts, hopefully I can get it back in without separating the subframe from the body. I would be concerned about the fenders hitting the doors and scratching the paint.
Any details on this process would be greatly appreciated. |

You can do it any way that you want ! If the body bushings are new, you shouldn't have to touch the subframe bolts.
