I don't think we are on the same page. I was looking for information on whats the same and what is different . I need to know if the depth is the same or different.

A LS1 with a automatic trans like a Turbo 350 or a 400 requires a different converter or a older style converter with spacers.

Will a LS1 flywheel and clutch (26 spline) and a older bellhousing with a TKo 500 work together or will the Trans input shaft not be long enough.

There are a couple posts about this on pro-touring.com. I am doing the same thing with my ls2. I am using the Keisler bellhousing and pilot bearing along with their hydraulic set up. It is desinged together to be used with a standard ls flywheel clutch set up. I am useing the ls7 clutch kit from scoggin-dickey.

You will need:
A different pilot bearing.
Probably a hydraulic clutch system.
Expect some changes to shifter location, crossmember mounting location, and driveshaft length.

Easy swap - we do this all of time:

Bell & Inspection Cover - 621 Reproduction GM bellhousing for LS series engines, engineered by Keisler with thick wall titanium-aluminum alloy construction and CNC machined in-house. 168 tooth flywheel. Note: LS engine has different mounting pattern than non-LS / conventional Chevy engines. Our bell has the correct mounting bosses for LS
* Best 621 reproduction bell on the market! *
we sell this as a kit with the stamped steel inspection cover, metric mounting hardware to the engine.
Price $249 with inspection cover and hardware packs.

Pilot Bearing - for LS engine with TKO, $39

LS Billet Flywheel - flywheel needs to be changed because balance and crank pattern is different. We have both dowel pin and non-dowel pin style. $269

Flywheel Bolts - again, unique to LS, so specify when ordering (pic shown is for non-LS) $16

Clutch Kit - our 11inch Sachs Borg&Beck diaphram gets the job with beautiful pedal effort and smooth release. We don't use the cheap china crap - only sealed release bearings. $249 kit - disk, plate, release bearing, alignment tool, spline lube

You can run the factory mechanical linkage with our bellhousing. Or you can run our hydraulic clutch kit to reduce pedal effort about 25%.

Car Craft Magazine did this swap with our parts. Check out our archives if you want to learn more.
