I'm looking at picking up a backed halved 67 camaro. the only problem the current owner does not have the title when he got the car several years back from an ole man. I plan on making the car streetable, so I need what I need to do in order to get a title for this car.
Thanls for any help on where to proceed. because I want to buy it next month. Thanks Kurt |

Depends on the state's DMV policy.
Here in AR, you can get a new title issued with a VIN and BOS if it's been off the records (and no flags like lien, stolen, etc. of course) for 10 years.

Yes, I believe Texas is a non-titled state, I sold a 67 Camaro to Texas from CT which is a non-titled state and included bill of sale.. That was it.

Texas titles their old cars- not a bill of sale state like Georgia
![]() Go to the DMV, or better yet, take a look at their website and see what the process is. If you need to,give your local tax office (DMV) a call. I have found them to be quite helpful in the past.

yea they said I need to pay $2 to get a print out based on the Vin then try to contact the person, and if they are no longer alive get find one of the heirs and then get them to file for a lost title.

I think that option might make one of the heirs suddenly decide they want to try to claim the car belongs to them. It may or may not be legal but I know of several cases where someone in a simillar situation sold the car (on paper only) to a friend in a non title state and then had the friend sell it back to them complete with a registration from the non-title state. You then take that paperwork to your local DMV and they issue a title in your name. Here in NH we have what's called a VIN verification for that's used for all non-title vehicles (anything over 15 years old) It gets signed by either a DMV cop or a licensed state inspection station and certifies that the VIN hasn't been altered. That form and a current registration and bill of sale showing the car has been sold to you should get you a title in any other state.

I am very surprised to hear that ... Heck I have Problems getting a title switched over to my name and thats BECAUSE I have the damn title in my hand let alone a car with NO TITLE here in the Great state of Texas.
For me "No Title" Means NO DEAL !!!!! unless im gonna part it out and junk it, but not to try and make it streetable like yourself. |

Maryland you can place it in front of a autobody shop or automechanics shop for two weeks and get a mechanics lean to get a title.
