What are you guys using to coat your garage floor?
Here is a product I am considering: http://www.quikretecoatings.com/epox...eFloorCoat.jsp I am a new home owner, the house has a two car garage and I'd like to coat the floor. I can't wait to get my Camaro out of a storage unit. Thanks --------------- 69 SS 396, X-22 |

i have U-COAT IT also, i applied it to a new concrete floor. its been 6 years now and the thing still looks like new. the best part is you can take a rag and wipe up any spill at all in 2 seconds, with no damage or stain. its alittle pricey but worth it.

As far as this U-coat product, will the paint/sealant chip or crack if using a jack with a car on it??...at times I wiggle the jack around while the car is on it and/or actually roll the jack with the weight of the car on it...and how about mig welding?? will the spatter burn the surface??
Thanks Team camaro |

I used the quikrete coating and haven't done any work yet in the garage so can't say if it'll last. I did a brake clean test...soaked a paint stick for 24 hrs. , it didn't soften

I can't say how good any floor coating is as I decided not to use one on my floor. I do know that at some point, something eventually will be hard/heavy/sharp enough to chip any coating when dropped.
That said, I decided to go with an absorbing type of sealer. No coating to wear or chip. It soaks down to about 1/4" or so. Simply roll it on. It's a milky-like solution. It doesn't look as pretty as a coating type sealant or paint, but it helps keep oils from penetrating. I think I got it from Home Depot. |

I haven't heard any prices per foot this would be my concern I would like to do this but I think it would cost to much for me.

Use a professional's source for you needs. My brother has been in business for 20 years and does simple jobs to complex, artistic floors, commercial and residential. High traffic areas such as driveways and garage floors are not a problem. Products purchased for the do it yourselfer can hardly compare to what a professional uses. You can do a portrait on the floor and work on it daily if that's what you desire. This link is but one of many sources for inspiration and products available: www.concretedecor.net

I won a floor coating at a car show and the guy charges $1200 to $1500 for a 2 car garage. It is a industrial coating and a 2 part expoxy mix. It has clear over it which you usually put the speckle chips on it before the clear. I did not put the speckle chips on it because if you drop a small screw or part it will be hell finding it.
It will chip if you drop something on it like a A -Arm from a table. I did that. If you weld over it , it will burn the clear. I usually put 1/8" fiber board on the floor if I have a welding job to do and Home Depot has the 4 x 8 sheets for about $7 a piece. When it was first put it down if it got wet you would bust your butt because it was real slick. Now that I have it I am glad I did not pay for it. It was free. Unfinished Floor ![]() Finished Floor
