After years of working on this darn car, I am finally getting it very close to paint. The car is coded as a Bolero Red car with black deluxe interior. However, I`m sick of red. I have been lately thinking about painting it black with a red bumble stripe and with red interior. The car is not bone stock. It is a restomod type build. What would the concensus be on this color scheme? Also, I want to do BC/CC on the car, but don`t feel that would be the best for under the car. Should I do a single stage underneath?

Jeremy, have you seen the movie Better off Dead? There is a 1967 rs/ss in that movie that will have you sold on black. If I remember correctly it has red interior also. I personally wouldn't put a red bumblebee stripe on it, I would do a solid black with red interior. If a bumblebee stripe was a must I would do white....but that is just my preference. If you haven't seen that movie go on google and search for better off dead camaro....I believe there was a guy that tracked that exact car down, found it in shambles and restored it back to the condition it was in the movie. Very cool......good luck. Jeff

Are you kidding me?! That was one of the camaros that got me interested in first gens. I have drooled over that car ever since that movie came out. Thanks for reminding me that car had red interior. I had forgotten that detail about that car

I also don't like the red bumble bee stripe.
Black is a great color for any car. Having said all that, I would stay with the original color. You have the preferred color already. Why change it. Red is the most popular color with people that don't own antiques but go to the shows. |

I would have painted it black. no doubt! and maybe with white runaway stripes on the hood and trunk..
a friend of mine has a red car, and no matter how many times he puts polish on it, it looses its shine after a few days (of course, his car hasn't been painted for a long time..) of course, in the end it's your choice. good luck, no matter what colour you go for! Lars

Jeremy,
A clean black car is the nicest looking car hands down. That being said, as a former owner of a black car, they are the hardest to keep clean and they show any and all imperfections in the paint. My first choice was black but I ended up going red. Either way you cant go wrong. Mike |

Go with a 67 color, but something besides bolero red. one of the less seen colors. i have a royal plum car, if i ever did another camaro it would be tahoe turquoise i think.

I`ve had red, blue, black, yellow, green and a color I call the color of dirt vehicles. I`ve had more red vehicles than any other. I had a black truck once and it was tough keeping that thing clean, but when I buffed it and had it sparkling, that was the best dang color vehicle I ever had. Red, blue or black are my color choices. I am leaning towards black with red bumble bee stripe. I see a lot on here don`t like the red stripe, but the color contrast with black and red are awesome TO ME. I was going to paint the car back it`s original red with the black bumble bee stripe for years, but I`m sick of red. I`m still on the fence a bit though

Black with a red interior is a stunning combination, no doubt about it. I was just talking with a friend of mine the other day about someday building a 69 Camaro that would be black with red interior and red hockey stripe...now that would be awesome. Frank.

Yes, I had a 69 that I was going to build with that color scheme. With the economy in the tank and no more money in the bank, that project sank. Google project prodigy and check out the 67 that Frank and his son built. Sweet car that is black on red. Looks awesome!

I like the black option but have you looked at 68's Matador red in base coat clear coat? It looks awsome, the color looks like a blood red if you just gut your self witha sharp knife.......sorry for that picture but only way I could describe it. That witha black stripe looks awsome. I have seem the black with a matador strip and it looked very nice, almost sorta goasted in way but yett it was still very visable and looked custom.
