Default 68 Convert. Dash Pad Installation

About 15 years ago I removed my dash pad. Now Iím installing a new dash pad, but something is not right, and I canít remember. Itís not in any of the manuals.. Specifically, there is an extra strip of vinyl that run along the lower front part of the pad that looks like it gets tucked under or somehow fastened to the instrument panel top ridge. Maybe it gets trimmed off, or heated and molded under? Cheap pad? Even with the four mounting studs tightened up, the front isn't very secure. I took pics, but I'm not sure where to attach. Thank you in advance for your help.

it sounds like your missing the trim piece that covers the leading edge of the pad....

Thank you very much. I actually thought the trim piece was an option and not a necessity.

It IS an option. It's part of the Z87 or Z23 package. What's the "TR" code on your trim tag?

Origiinal items and options don't matter that much with my car (pro-street). It's all abount functionality, and if the trim piece secures, tucks and finishes the lower pad, it will be great. I spent the $100 for the trim piece and remain hopreful.
