Default Panel cutter question

I just bought a cheap panel cutter chisel from HF and tried it on a toe pan I was cutting out. It's the first time I've used one and was impressed on how nice a job it did. This brought up a couple questions.

Being a HF tool how fast do these cutters wear out?

What are some good quality cutters I can find.

The blade thickness of the cut was about 3/16 wide, do they make cutters with thinner blades for a smaller cut line

Any other pro's\cons on using panel cutters or advice that anyone has.

Thanks
Ray

I use one....it came with my air hammer set I bought from Mac tools. I've never seen one with a narrower cut. I only use it to make initial cuts when removing a panel. I'm cutting about an inch inside my actual cut line when I'm using it. By far the quickest way to remove a panel...well...except for explosives.

Default Re: Panel cutter question

I bought a wheel cutter from HF for I think was $20 dollars. If you see my car you would know I made really good use of this tool. I have owned it now for about little less than a year and already I notice it does not have the power it had before. The cutter slows down as soon as I start cutting metal with it. Yes, I oil the tool every time before I start using it. I now bought a Craftsman cutter for $70. I believe this one will last longer. HF is ok for some tools you dont expect to last.
