I have a 68Z built month of 04 with DF ralley wheels, trim rings and center caps. Recently i was challenged that the center caps i have installed should NOT be the high hat type, but the low style like the 67's .
I'd appreciate the expert panel on 68 Z 28's to set me straight on this. Also - will the build sheet define the type of caps this would receive? Thanks in advance....

I'm not an expert on 68 z's, but they would have the high hat type. Same as 69.

The build sheet would only state rally wheels. The correct caps are the later style. Not the 67s.Jeff

They should be the tall ones like 69 and originals also have the double ribs on the inside of the cap, with beveled small retaining bolts that hold them together, with 3925805 X GW 5525804 "Canada" - on the inside of the cap. . Later replacements have the single ribs inside and washer head style retaining bolts. They usually have a date cast in side, a lot allways seem to be 2/79. Below is a link that shows the 2 ribs inside the cap. See post 446 in the link.
