Default window molding stud replacements ?

Hi, on 69 camaro coupe what is recommended to install the replacement screw in studs for windshield and rear window moldings? Body shop that did my car told me the 6 or so that needed replacing would be replaced by weld on style but they didnt do it before paint and now i need to use the crappy little screw in studs. What should i seal them with or other method of retention?
Thanks
Ryan

The screw in studs actually work fine. Pre drill the holes carefully. Then use a little dab of JBweld (or similar) on the threads when they are installed. The epoxy will seal the threads and lock them in forever!

Did the molding clips sort of float a little bit on the studs originally, or should they hold the clips tight? I'm going to have to use screws to hold them in a couple places and wondered if I should screw the clips tight or leave a bit of wiggle room.
That's an excellent idea about the JB Weld.

is it possible to install these with the windshield in? Just curious as it appears some of mine are missing and my windshield is in now.
