I've been doing a lot of looking for a plasma cutter. Seems like there's basically 2 ways to go: 1. Cheap chinese cutter like this one or 2. a US made name brand like Miller, Hypertherm, Thermal Dynamics, etc. Obviously, the high $$ US is the way to go if you're a professional or money is no object. These cost about 3 times as much. The consensus seems to be to stay away from the cutters with the air compressor built in. Most seem to run on 60-70 lbs air pressure. This looks like a real dink of a rig to me at 30-35 lbs. and 1/8" cut.
I'm looking toward chinese since I'm no professional and money is an object. However, I'm thinking of getting one from Parker Metalworking Products because they actually work on these if they break down and they're a whole lot more machine then this one witout a lot more $$$. http://www.parkermetalworking.com I've emailed them with a couple of questions and they replied quickly. Take a look at the Plasma Tech 40 and 50DVs. Has anyone here had any experience with the plasma cutters from Parker -- good or bad? |

Hyper-therm is a very good plasma cutter.A little pricey but well worth it.What ever brand you get-make sure you get an air filter/dryer with it.Ive had mine for about 2 years and no problems yet and one of the handiest tools i have.Beats the heck out of a cutting torch!!
