Need to remove the inner fenders and install new aftermarket replacements. Can I get the old inner fenders off with the engine and headers in the car?
Thanks for your advice and time! Bobby |

They will come off. It's neither fun nor easy. You have to "roll" them out, grab the inner bottom and pull, they will come out upside down.
Getting them back in is really fun.

I took off my front end..still a pain in the &*&, I would try to roll it out first. One of those projects I hope to never have to repeat, but am glad I did it. Also used new hardware. Only had to redrill 2 holes that were off a little bit. Dont forget to sand, prime and paint the new inner fender before you install.

I think the assembly manual recommends removing fender and inner as a unit. I did it separately and it wasn't pretty.

I too am interested in this topic. Guys when removing the fender should you drill an alignment hole for reinstaling the fenders? My sheet metal is nice and straight I would hate to screw that up.

No need for the alignment holes. Just keep track of which shims go where on the fenders and put the fenders/bolts back in the "dirt shadows" and the alignment should be the same on reassembly. The trick with these fenders is to align the door to fender gap first with the bolts loose or removed at the core support. When the fender to door gap is where you want it, then install the header panel and gap the fenders at the front. Keep core to fender bolts installed but loose at this time. Install the hood with the latch removed and adjust. Install the cowl screen and adjust. when you like the gaps all around tighten all bolts. Install hood latch and check for fit.
