Hi, I'm a new owner of a 67 camaro RS and a newbie working on these engines.
I have a small leak at the oil filter and plan to do an oil change this weekend and replace the filter. Only issue is, I'm not sure where to add the oil at? There's no visible oil filler tube as far as I can tell. I've attached a few pictures of the engine bay below. Any help would be appreciated, thanks. - 383 stroker motor - holley 750 - victor jr intake ![]() ![]()

pull out one of the breathers u have there on the valve covers and hope to god there is no baffle there or you will have to wait awhile for the oil to go down and add more as time goes. Just remove them and add the oil through there

No baffles under either of the breathers. Does it matter which one? Guess it'll all drain down to the same place. Thanks.
Here's a picture of the car. http://www.camaros.net/forums/showth...04#post1195204 |

I agree, but then that takes all the fun out of it. Grab yerself a six pack at it too
Everyone knows it takes a six pack to do anything oil related.

while you have the filter off, it would be a good idea to figure out why it leaks like that.

Check under the filter boss, there should not be a rubber ring. Just one ring on the filter itself. Sometimes one can come off and stick to the boss which leads to leaks.

Boy do I know about this crap! I changed oil and filter on my second Son's Eclipse and got PO'd at him b/c he wouldn't even take time out ta watch me and it was a tad low ta the ground so I dropped the screw-on filter and NEVER fingered her to see if the old gasket was stuck up there?? And I will be dammed if it was still tight on the boss flat! I had ta go change the filter for him by the side of I-70 and Hwy 63 junction here in town and felt like a F** FOOL!! Never hurt a darn thing, but it scared me BAD!!!!!!!!!!! And to this day, I still like the old nasty cans!!! pdq67 |

Yeah? Well ask me how I know about that little trick myself. You haven't lived until you have a Pennzoil hemmorage in your driveway.

Turns out it was the oil line connected on the side. It didn't have any teflon tape on it. I put some on and replaced the filter with the Napa gold version and it's good to go. Only needed about 1/2 quart of oil to fill up the filter and some that was spilled.
