Default Rear End building question

What do I need to build the strongest 10 bolt posi possible using the original housing? I want to go up to a 3.73 gear. It has to withstand at least 465hp and 450fp.
Who makes the best parts?

it would probably be easier to build an 8.5 to handle that level of power.

I personally do not like posi units. They burn up eventually, and they don't give 100% lock up. I have a Powertrax No-Slip. It gets 100% lock up and is smooth like a posi. It will strengthen the case some, and it will handle what you are talking about hp wise. No need to set the ring/pinion either. The No-Slip doesn't have the loud ratchet sound of other lockers.

I'm glad that you like the No-Slip and that it is working for you. It's a little unusual for someone to be happy with one of them. Most people complain about them not working right. They tend to fail a lot.

The Eaton Posi is about the best street/strip differential that you can get for a Chevy. The new Eaton has a stropnger case and a larger cross shaft than the old ones. A good set of after market axles, quality gears and bearings and correct installation are very importatn. You can have the best parts in the world and set them up wrong and the rear end will break. The T/A Performance rear end can help with weak rear ends like the 8.2 10 bolt. I agree that the 8.5 would be a better choice, but they are almost as hard to find as a 12 bolt now.

100% agree
I bought my parts through Freddie (BigGearHead).
I used the Eaton posi, and a set of 3.73's (motive ?) and stock axles (same size as the 8.5"). Times below and NO issues. NO burnouts around corners. NO dry hops.

I feel any rear regardless of size, brand,or what ever can and will break if abused.... so build it to the best you can.

Thanks for the input, I definetly do not want to cut corners when building it.
