Default IR compressor filter restriction

I bought a 3hp 60gal IR compressor from Tractor Supply, and was very disappionted with it. It would not keep up with any air tools, even ones that were 1/4 the cfm rating of the compressor.

One day while checking the filter I noticed that the plastic housing that threads into the comp head had very small openings, in fact some were almost shut with material left from the molding die. I cut these openings out as large as I could with my trusty pocket knife and it made a huge difference!

I called IR to make them aware of this and they acted like they didn't even care.

Just thought I'd share...

Glad you found the problem...

My friend had a similar problem with his compressor.

He had some casting that was blocking the intake.

You gotta figure if it can't suck...it can't blow!
