Thanks for the info. Have you experienced any leaks with this kit?

In my experience, copper leaked. The nylon tube never did.

The factory used a alloy line from the area of exhaust heat. Then the line connects to the plastic pipe for the trip to the firewall. Here's the fireproof original pipe on my BBC.

The complete pipe is at the top, the block outlet is in front of the pipe.
Oh, the alloy pipe looks to be made of monel or something similar. Very strong and hard to bend. Not copper.

Thanks Fred....you bring up a point that I did not consider. The difference between line routing for a BB vs. SB. Mine is a SB 302 coming out of the rear top of the block just in front of the intake manifold.

Do folks think the "heat" that melted the plastic line could have been related to a connection as you show as it is closer to the exhaust manifold....makes perfect sense.

It seems that, from what I've read the nylon hose was problematic on the SB as I've described as well. Certainly the nylon hose near the exhaust would be really problematic...?

Again, any thoughts on copper alternative kits and what to do to stop / minimize leaking potential??

Thanks, again!

I bought this oil pressure line from Paragon Reproductions (Thanks Mark!), worked great. This line has the correct cone-shaped ferrule w/ a little pin insert at the end. My previous leaking problems were from using the over-the-counter lines w/ the barrel-shaped ferrules--they did not match up well enough to my original gauges and i could never get a good enough seal to stop the leak!

What size hole is correct for the routing of the Oil Line?

So what is the verdict? Hard line off engine, then convert to nylon to guage? Nylon ok for SB? All hard line needed for SB?
