Please dont Ever put your car out in the sun for any reason other than car shows racing or driving it.The sun is no good for paint wether its new or old .It will only damage every painted, plastic, rubber or vinyl part of your car eventually!

Haha. Well the painter may be a moron, but he did a heck of a nice job on the paint, looks great! The #7 is amazing on black and dark colors, but it will take away the swirls and haze on any color, and look great. On my Black car I used to hit it with #7, then with #26 yellow wax, the #7 made it look wet still and the wax almost locks in the polish I guess. On a car that sees only occasional washes you could probably just use the #7. Again I'm no body guy, but I did detail cars when I was younger, and own a black car, anyone that owns a black car knows you are required to learn waxing technique if you want it to look decent, it will be my last black car likely, because they are a serious pain. ![]() I grew up in northern Marysville, but live just northeast of Mill creek now.

Even the Meguires info recomends a wax after polishing with #7... Keep in mind polish is an abrasive so you only want to use it when it's necessary to get rig of cob webbing, swirl marks and light scratching. Using the right applicators and cloths is key to avoiding cob webs, swirl marks and scratches. Most micro-fiber towels have nylon stiching around the edges that will cause problems. Micro-fiber is the best, just find quality ones... I've even read a disclamer on a package at the parts store so better towels are important. Also you need to clean anything you use on the car with liquid soap, powders can leave un-disolved grit in the towel or applicator. Also fabric softner will mess up micro-fiber...
The 5 second rule may be ok for food but if you drop a towel or applicator on the ground it is bound to pick up tiny bits that can harm your paint... I've even seen stuff stuck to the towels after washing so if you do wash a dropped towel look it over well before using it on your paint... I'm in the process of writing a tech article for the sites tech reference area on detailing. It won't be about specific products but will talk about do's and don'ts when dealing with taking care of your car, both maintaining and bringing new life back into older paint.

#7 is a polish, but has very low abrasive content, it's mostly oil. Here's a couple links I just found, one from a car site detailing the use of #7 and one from Meguiars site, pretty interesting reading.
