Is it normal for lights in the front of the car to turn on when the brake pedal is pressed? The car is a 68 RS/SS, and the front end lights that turn on are the under bumper lights. Any help is appreciated.

That is not normal. It is most likely a ground issue. Make sure the grounds are good on the front lights.

Check your 4 way flasher switch and circuit.

Did you just reassemble the car after painting the trunk?
I would ground the tail lights. I like to put a star washer under 2 of the securing nuts, they will cut into the paint and ensure a good ground.

No, actually just got the car, but a friend of mine told me about this so-called "common problem." I will check out all of these and any other possibilities and let you all know what I find.
Any recommendations on books where I can find wiring diagrams or shop manuals that make working on these cars any easier? |

Just wanted to thank you guys, it was a combination of a bad flasher relay and rear light sockets. Replaced all with new and now all the gremlins have disappeared.
