Assuming its the original sticker and not just stuck on there the part # is correct but w/o seeing the holes for the hood hinge nuts hard to say for sure. I think there is some other difference also in repro's on hood edges do a search here on TC.
PN #3949708 is correct and so is PN #03949708 w/ bar code cause thats what I have bought it at Don Drennen Buick from a friend that worked at parts counter (got discount) many years ago.

The circles on the front corners should have 3 didmples in them for a GM hood.

I posted this several years ago, but thought it might be helpful to post it again. Here are the hoods on two of my cars, One is the original GM hood from my 08C 69 Z/28 and the other is a repo I ran on my 68 SS/RS a few years back. This is the easiest way to spot a real GM hood from the 10 million repo hoods out there.

Nick - Those pics that you posted above do a real nice job of showing the difference between the Real GM Cowl Hood the re pro version. Certainly a much better job that I could do trying to explain the difference in the notch rear of the hood that you circle. Nice. A dead give-a-way ... Should be helpful to those that didn't know the difference between the two.

That hood should be worth $500 all day long.

Glad to help out, I discovered this back in the mid 90's while walking around through a Super Chevy Show car show and looking at all the different Camaros. When I got home I started comparing all of my original hoods to the repos I had on hand & it became so obvious, you could spot the repos 50' away. So far every repro I have run across has basically that same corner and every original, weather it be a stock flat hood, SS or ZL-2 has the same corner. I am sure there are probably other ways to tell them apart, but so far this way hasn't failed me yet. ![]() ![]() Congrats on yours turning out to be a GM hood. |
