Default Finally got the nerve to do it - it's painted

Well i finally just said 'let's do it' and here's what we got!

I'm petty darn happy with it - there is some orange peel, and one small dent that i missed in the trunkk lid, but other than that - i am super excited !

Thanks to everyone here who encouraged and posted their hints and tips.

There's more pictures in my TC album: Paint Stuff Album

It is a good accomplishment. Isn't a good feeling to have created this yourself. No paint job is ever perfect. Maybe you can buff/wet sand out some of that orange peel once it dries. You will always find something that could be better. Even if it was close to perfect you will drive it down the road and get a rock chip then it won't be perfect any more. Enjoy your car.

thanks guys - i must say it was the most nerve-racking time leading up to actually doing it - but when i finished i think it was the funnest thing i have done on the car.

i'll get to work this weekend on learing how to wetsand and buff the clear to get rid of the orangepeel - i'm sure i'll drive myself nuts overanalyzing how to do it too.

for those of you contemplating painting yours in the garage - take it from a first timer both to painting and doing it my garage - it reallly wasn;t hard at all - just put together a plan of attack and go for it.

Hea Rob how about sharing your whole set up. Compressor, gun, primer, & paint. Lots of guys want to know what they need to do their first paint job.

Great looking car Rob, as everyone has said.
I know exactly what you mean..... I went over it and over it in my head leading up to the day I first pulled a trigger. Then I set a date and went for it. I was elated afterwards. Painting IS fun. So what if you have a drip or orange peel here or there. We ain't professionals.

Exactly. Plan, plan, plan. And don't skip the prep..... the garage I mean. Clean, cover the walls (you will have a dusting of dry paint dust in every nook and cranny no matter what. Set aside a good portion of time, and then take your time. There's no rush. You'll be amazed how quickly you can paint an entire car, inside and out. You'll have all kinds of time left over to sit back and cry tears of joy afterwards.
