Talking

Well, I finally got around to finishing the fine tuning on my combo. I posted back in November about my dissapointment going from 492 casting fuelies on my 350 to a set of 195cc AFR's. To give you guys a quick update on my combo - here it is:

-355
-(New) Holley 650 DP rejetted
-RPM Air Gap intake
-AFR 195 cc heads milled to 10.325 compression.
-Comp Cam XE 274
-Crane Gold race 1.5 roller rockers
-Hooker 1 3/4" Super Comps
-Municie M20 4spd
-4:10 rear

I had changed my heads and cam and initially I was dissapointed, the inprovements were not what I expected.

Now, at the time I had an Edelbrock 750 carb and unknowingly a frozen mechanical advance.

I recently installed my new Holley and had my distributor recurved by Fuel Curve West. Well, I found out that I had no advance at ALL! Dave, at fuel curve recurved my timing to come in at 1400 RPMS and total advance to be in at 2800 rpms.

Lat night I got her running and took her out for the first time and holy S#@t! This is like a totally different car. It was incredibly more responsive and much much more powerful. I can no problem bake them up in second where this car never did that before.

She is so much more pleasuable to drive and a hell of a lot faster.

A lot of you guys on this board were so right - that it is all in the tunning.

Thanks again for all your input.

I guess it is possible but i do not think so. The advance was totally frozen and the engine build with the old heads was relatively new, maybe 700 miles.
