Default Front Bumper Modifications

Is it possible to "grind" or sand the chrome off the front bumper, until you just get bare metal? Pros or Cons of doing this?

Get it burnished. Cost me under a $100 for both front and back bumpers, then sand with 100grit or 180 and self etch primer, wet-sand then paint!

100 grit is quite rough, i was thinking about sanding with intially 400, and then going upwards of maybe 600-1000grit

I have one I painted that has never seen any use. I can tell you chrome is hard to sand! I would check into having the chrome stripped if I was gonna do it again.

take it toa chromeshopand let them remove the chrome. It will be cheap and you don't have to deal with the health risks of sanding it. You do not want to sand the chrome off.

A chrome shop will strip it clean and be happy to take the chrome which will be used again.

Look up someone in your area that rechromes bumpers and they'll know what to do with it. They chemically strip chrome routinely and would be easiest and best way.
