Is there a '69 Z28 registry that exists? I had a new one from the dealer and was wondering if the car is still around. I have the original dealer order form (dated 11/23/68) and the original invoice (dated 1/7/69). The serial number and options are listed on the invoice. The dealer no longer exists but another Chevy dealer has the same location and building.
Unfortunately, I sold it in the early seventies. I thought I needed a "family" car. It was Cortez Silver with black stripes and black interior. No spoilers and a flat hood.
Interesting the invoice prices tranny, engine, brakes etc. individually. It seems crazy...$2for a 4.10 rear end. If GM sold 10,000 in a year that is only $20K addtional sales. Was it an X77 or X33? Thanks for posting that.
Thanks John... even though he bought his car in Ohio I should have been clear on that point... Fist gens were built in both Norwood , Ohio and the plant in Van Nuys , California . Though Van Nuys production was sketchy after April 69 and ceased all together in July per Camaro Research Group (CRG) web site
Car is still in Ohio. Find out from your BMV where county 25 is and narrow your search

You guys are good! ChevyThunder, I don't know what all of the title information means but it looks like the car still exists, and maybe not far from home.
Thanks for all the help and comments. Is there a way to find the users on this site from Columbus, Ohio without going through 1000 pages of the members list? Maybe a database of some sort that I am missing? I realize some members don't list being from a particular city in Ohio.
CRG has a private data base of their own and several members in TC here have smaller data bases they have worked on for years. Keeping this thread up and full of any info. you have will bring their comments in as well.
I have looked for my old z also n570909. I have a friend that is a trooper and in ohio if the car has not had tags registered to it in the last ten years then it cant be traced, seems that when they computerized this info they only went back ten years.
I think if you have the VIN, you can contact the DMV to find the current owner. I met a guy in Ohio, who found an L72 motor, and, IIRC used the DMV to locate the car. Bought the car and reunited the motor...Rare COPO Chevelle with bench seat, and auto on the column. He might have had a cop connection, but I don't remember him mentioning anything about it, if he did.
I have sent email to a published contact for the Central Ohio Camaro Club to see if my car would be familiar to anyone from that region but as of yet, no response.
I suggest you contact Jerry MacNeish and see if he knows of the car. With some luck, he may have inspected it. See http://z28camaro.com/. Best of luck in finding the owner. Only good things can come from a successful search.

I do hope you find your old Z. Of course, whether or not the current owner would be interested in selling is another matter.
A friend of mine has a 69 Z matching your paint colors that is currently in Wisconsin, but I really think his is an X33 car. It has the original DZ302 and in need of a complete restoration. I would spill the beans on it, but I'm trying to put a deal together to buy the car from him.
Wow, man you guy's are good! I can't wait to hear how this one turns out. Please keep us posted, this is cool!
:beers:
