Which Spray Gun should I use to Prime with? Suction or Gravety Feed? What about HVLP?

All three will work. I like the gravity feed for easier clean up and being able to spray to the last drop. As far as HVLP make sure your compressor is up to the requirements.

Thumbs up Re: Primer Spray Gun?

I always used a suction gun until last summer when I tried out a cheaper Gravity gun a friend gave - went an purchased a better one the following day and now use ot for all my primer/filler work
The gravity gun allows mme to get into some of the areas I always had trouble with when using a suction gun.
Coverage seems better and it is MUCH easier to clean

I agree with the comment about true HVLP units
They are great guns (the higher end ones) and give fantastic coverage and results - But ... you do need a serious compressor to properly use one .
I thought my compressor was pretty good as it has never run out of air with any grinder, drill or other high-cfm use tool - then I tried spraying with a HVLP gun ... had to start 'waiting' for the compressor for the first time in my life
Am able to get around it for top coats now by piggy-backing two of my compressors to the reg. - but it a PITA ...
If you aren't over 5hp and 12~14cfm - dont' attempt a HVLP gun.
